A PERFECT CIRCLE's JOSH FREESE Drumming For STING
January 25, 2005Launch Radio Networks is reporting that singer Maynard James Keenan has gone back to TOOL, bassist Jeordie White has joined the touring lineup of NINE INCH NAILS, and now A PERFECT CIRCLE drummer Josh Freese has found something to do while APC is on hiatus. Freese will sit behind the kit for former POLICE singer and bassist Sting, who's getting back to his roots with a four-piece rock band that hits the road in early April. Freese told Reuters, "I'm a little bit more on the rock side of things than on the sophisticated jazz-pop side of things. But I'm not going to go out and be overpowering — if anything I'll tone it down a bit at first so I don't freak anybody out."
Sting's "Broken Music Tour" begins on April 1 at San Jose State University in California.
As a solo artist, Sting has toured with large ensembles and delved into jazz and pop.
When not playing for A PERFECT CIRCLE, Freese is one of the busiest session drummers in music, having worked on records by EVANESCENCE, STAIND, PUDDLE OF MUDD, THE OFFSPRING and others. He has also recorded eleven albums with punk band the VANDALS and spent some time in GUNS N' ROSES.
